About the Band

ABOUT Mach Turtle

TURTLE SHELL

Mach Turtle may be a new band and a new name
on the New England music scene, but the members
are well-seasoned professionals.  Guitarist’s Nurme
and Hebert’s playing days  together date back to 1979,
as founding members of frat house and party band
ShadyLake, infamous in the 1980’s New England college
circuit.  Drummer, Nick Eaton, was a founding member
of The Steamer’s, based on Cape Cod, MA (also the brother of
“Cadillac Jack” Henry Eaton from Duke & the Drivers out of Boston).
Rounding out the group are brothers and long-time musicians,
Trip and Jake Stiles, who bring years of collaboration and fresh
harmonies to the band.

Terrapins' Today
The current focus of this five-member group is
to bring good times and quality Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll
to its audience.  Mach Turtle seeks out music that
people are looking to party to — mainly focusing
on well-known artists, but often going away from
the traditional play list.   Many songs take on a
unique arrangement that make the “Turtle”
renditions much more than “cover songs.”

For example, Mach Turtles’ version of Bob Dylan’s
classic Tangled Up and Blue has a backbeat and a
bridge that gives it a whole new identity.
B.B. Kings’ well known hit, The Thrill is Gone, will
satisfy your need to hear the blues, having a
powerful undertow from Eaton and Stiles, while
leaving you playing air guitar to the three axe men
exchanging tasty leads.  The dance floor has
never been empty during Mach Turtle renditions
of Grateful Dead classics like Franklins’ Tower,
Iko Iko and Women Are Smarter — all melded
with shuffle and attitude.
